Michel François is passionate about everyday gestures: he asks us to reconsider our relationship to common things. He combines video’s virtuality with physical installations, working on the objects’ very materiality. The Belgian artist links and confronts everyday objects to recreate common environments, such as a workspace in Bureau Augmenté (Augmented Office).
The shifting uses of objects and the regular use of repetitive processes offer new readings of the world around us. The viewer is asked to question his or her environment and habits.
The works of Michel François were presented for the first time by the Pinault Collection during the exhibition “Passage du temps” (“Passage of Time”) in 2008 at the Tri Postal in Lille.
