Reyle

German, born in 1970

By using unconventional materials, which he integrates into paintings and industrial installations, Anselm Reyle carries out prolific experiments that combine figurative and abstract art. Saying that he is "interested in something that has the quality of being a cliché", Reyle disrupts the viewer’s cultural bearings by giving familiar urban objects a new meaning.

Since the beginning of his career, Reyle has varied his approaches by adopting a pictorial practice involving large abstract and sculptural paintings. Experimentation and diversification of materials are trademarks of the artist’s pieces, which combine aluminium, mirrors and neon lights in flashy colours. His work, whose vibrant spontaneity contrasts with great technical complexity, refers in particular to the various currents of abstract art in the early 20th century.

Reyle's works in the Pinault Collection were first exhibited at the "Sequence 1" show in 2007 at the Palazzo Grassi.
