Cuoghi
Italian, born in 1973
Roberto Cuoghi experiments with changing reality through a heterogeneous mix of media and subjects. His highly eclectic practice is characterised by classic forms of expression such as digital animation, drawing, painting, photography and writing, but also through transformation.
One of his most radical works is an epic seven-year performance. In 1998, he embarked on a quest to age, transforming himself into his own father and adopting his physical appearance, dress codes and distinctive characteristics, including health problems. Taking on his father's identity for many years, Cuoghi took an absolute and personal approach to the alteration of representations.
He is considered one of the most enigmatic and promising artists on the Italian art scene. Cuoghi’s works in the Pinault Collection were first displayed during the "Sequence 1" show at the Palazzo Grassi.
