Gonzalez-Foerster
Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster sensitively explores privacy through his personal experiences. This filmmaker and visual artist sees her work as an exhibition in its own right and forges ties between several disciplines, including cinema, opera and literature. Her deeply poetic work questions memory and space without ever falling into the spectacular.
Working mainly with video, she seeks to arouse the viewer’s emotions through a sometimes subtle impression. The idea of place plays a key role in her work. Her installations survey space and investigate its identity. Her photos are like indexes opening up new ways to read the world.
Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster’s works in the Pinault Collection were presented for the first time during the 2008 “Passage du Temps” (“Passage of Time”) show at the Tri Postal in Lille.
