The work of photographer Liz Deschenes is entirely dedicated to a single technique: the photogram. Using only natural evening light and its interaction with photosensitive paper, she creates unique minimalist objects that are often more sculptural or architectural than photographical in the classical sense.
Through these constantly renewed technical experiments, varying the format of her photographic prints, the artist pushes the boundaries of the definition of photography as a medium. The same is true when it comes to displaying her work: “Many of my photograms transform the space in which they are presented into an optical device where viewers can see themselves as they look and understand the construction of the photographic object as well as that of their own perception.
The photographic work of Liz Deschenes was first shown by the Pinault Collection at the "Luogo e Segni" (Place and Signs) show at the Punta della Dogana in Venice in 2019.
