Born in Vietnam in 1979, Thu Van Tran lives and works in Paris. Her practices makes use of the most diverse media, from painting to sculpture, drawing, film, and on-site installations. Thu Van Tran’s work surveys the domains of literature as well as of personal and colonial history. Inspired by the words of Marguerite Duras, Joseph Conrad, and many other writers, her practice uses materials such as bronze, rubber trees, and pigments to explore how surfaces, bodies, and even exhibition spaces are affected by the echoes of collective memory.
Thu Van Tran is exhibiting her work at the Pinault Collection for the first time as part of Before the Storm.
