Graham
Canadian, born in 1949
Rodney Graham explores film, literature, music, philosophy and psychology. His videos reflect both the seriousness of his choice of scientific references and a certain humour in the manipulation of codes. Since the 1990s, the Canadian artist has produced a singular, eclectic body of work questioning the foundations of Western artistic culture and probing the nature of art history through mise en abyme.
Graham uses various visual media, from the Renaissance camera obscura to cutting-edge technology. In addition to making videos, he writes music in which text plays a key role.
Graham’s works were shown by the Pinault Collection for the first time at the Tri Postal in Lille during the 2008 “Passage du Temps” (“Passage of Time”) exhibition.
