Leblon
Guillaume Leblon develops a proteiform work mainly composed of vast environmental installations and enigmatic sculptures with a very strong material presence. His art draws from the qualities inherent to every material he handles – marble, brass, plaster, clay – and results in staging that transforms the function and the perception of space.
Leblon’s works contain a number of iconographic references that enrich his narratives of stories never heard before. Crossing the past and the present, he talks mostly of memories, in all their fleeing quality and evanescence, that take a tangible form in his memory works.
Many retrospectives dedicated to Guillaume Leblon have been held since the early 2000s, among them those at the Contemporary Art Gallery in Vancouver (2015) and at the Contemporary Art Institute in Villeurbanne (2014). His work was first shown by the Pinault Collection at the 2016 “Accrochage” ("Hanging") exhibition at the Punta della Dogana.
