Crayon and graphite on paper
23 x 24 cm (9 1/16 x 9 7/16 in.)
A pair of frenetically drawn, deliberately crude buttocks with no context fills the entire composition, shown rejecting the staples that a wide-handle stapler has introduced into it.
This absurd graphic work with strong sexual connotations belongs to a series of drawings by Lozano in the same irreverent vein. But beyond mere provocation, she pursues one of her favourite themes: a conceptual visual reflection on the possible or dreamed interactions between body and machine.
This work is in the Pinault Collection along with similar drawings by the artist. It was first shown at the Palazzo Grassi and Punta della Dogana during the 2009 group exhibition "Mapping the Studio".
