Elephants
2001
Oil on canvas
304.8 x 426.7 cm (120 x 168 in.)
Elephants appears at first sight as a collection of unrelated images. Only her blond hair and leather trousers remain of a woman crawling on all fours. Her shape is filled with cut images of elephants and bikinis in cheap gemstones.
In his paintings as in his sculptures, Jeff Koons combines popular culture and advanced technological processes. Elephants, a computer-made collage, produces an absurd, overbearing imagery. The resulting artwork is both fun and weird.
Jeff Koons' Elephants was shown for the first time in 2006 at the Where Are We Going? exhibition at Palazzo Grassi, in Venice.
