The video Lip Sync, abbreviation of lip synchronization, focuses on Bruce Nauman's mouth as he tries to synchronize his words with the sound track he's hearing through a headset. In spite of his efforts, coordination errors between his mouth and tongue start to disrupt the execution of the task.

At a time when he couldn't afford to buy materials, Bruce Nauman started to explore the possibilities offered by his body. By using his body as the main material of his early works, the American artist created an amazing video epic of his innumerable capacities and limitations, while seeking to trigger a physical reaction in the viewer.

Bruce Nauman's video Lip Sync was first presented by the Pinault Collection in the exhibition Dancing With Myself at the Museum Folkwang in Essen (2016).
