Chambaud
French, born in 1980
Born in 1980 in Mulhouse, France, Étienne Chambaud adopts an analytical approach, close to that of Conceptual art. Working with a wide range of media, he aims to create objects as much as to reveal the relationships that emerge between them within a space, whether it be the space of matter, that of the exhibition or that of thought, a permanent dialogue similar to what constitutes intertextuality in literature, stratification in geology or contamination in biology.
His individual works, installations and exhibitions destabilize notions of what art is and can be, how an artist conceptualizes and produces a work, and the form, function and history of the exhibition. Between literality and allegory, his artistic practice refuses any single reading, the intersection of references making the experience of the work certainly intriguing, as well as open and sensitive.
