El Anatsui, Seung-Taek Lee, Subodh Gupta, Chen Zhen, David Hammons, Theaster Gates - all non-European artists - are assemblers of salvaged and gleaned objects. They are part of this great art revolution initiated by Marcel Duchamp at the start of the 20th century. How better to assert that the artistic scene, long attribute of the Western world, has become a universal reality, in an open world where ideas, works, women and men as well as material goods circulate? If globalization involves some risks, it is also, for humanity and for culture, an opportunity and a wealth.

This selection of works by artists from different backgrounds in a historic building expressed the interest of Pinault Collection to open up to new areas of creation while inscribing it promoting dialogue between approaches, cultures and eras.
