An oversized female hand seems to be trapped in a net woven on a black background. Four superimposed reserved inscriptions in a white frame on the composition’s right side back up this idea. Put together, they say: "We are the objects of your suave entrapments."
American artist Barbara Kruger makes unique photographic works where morally impactful text in black or red is superimposed on archival or advertising images reproduced in black and white. Presented as appealing posters with striking slogans, her montages offer a sharp critique of contemporary society, especially consumerism and sexism.
Untitled (We Are the Objects of Your Suave Entrapments) was shown for the first time by the Pinault Collection during the exhibition "Mapping the Studio" (2009-2011) at the Punta della Dogana and Palazzo Grassi in Venice.
