Storied

1990

Plaster, paint, iron, string
28 × 30 × 26 cm

Rosemarie Trockel (born in Germany, in 1952) infuses art with a spirit of freedom and resistance to convention. Her multidisciplinary works ironically challenge hierarchical systems, and in particular the male dominance in the art world. In Storied, another symbolic object, the iron, becomes a weapon that melts and crushes a face. This image of violence is presented on a shelf, using the vocabulary of the shop window or the TV monitor.
