Double Take, a sometimes colour, sometimes black and white full-length film, turns the iconic Alfred Hitchcock on his head with a surrealist screenplay based on a short story by Jorge Luis Borges. Hitchcock meets his 20-year-older double on the street and decides to have coffee with him. Each gradually fuels the obsession to kill the other.

This experimental film by Johan Grimonprez features clips from past and present movies and television shows that blend into one when put together. It critiques television’s relationship to the image and manipulation of the masses while raising issues about the mythical figure of the double.

Double Take, a film by Johan Grimonprez in the Pinault Collection, was shown during the 2009 exhibition "Un certain état du monde ?" (“A Certain State of the World?”) at the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture in Moscow.
