Public Crop

Theater sculptural
Variable dimensions installation
Public Crop is a sculptural cinema hall designed to show P.opular S.ky, a film lasting about forty minutes. While on the one hand the film immerses the characters in an extreme poetical state where the creative limits are pushed back, on the other, the room itself tells its own story. Scripted with the same title as the film, the room suggests the infinite formal possibilities latent in P.opular S.ky.
An inhabitable sculpture designed by Lizzie Fitch, Public Crop is one of the “Sculptural theatres” that contain and present the movies produced with her friend and collaborator Ryan Trecartin. Made almost exclusively from ready-made, commonly used materials, these structures offer the viewer an authentic sensorial and narrative immersion.
The installation Public Crop by Lizzie Fitch and Ryan Trecartin belongs to the Pinault Collection. The work was first shown at the “Prima Materia” (“Raw Material”) exhibition at the Punta della Dogana.
