Acrylic on canvas

152.4 x 152.4 x 3.8 cm (60 x 60 x 1 1/2 in.)

Aiming to document and record his everyday life, Taylor paints portraits of his friends and family in a style that is all his own: broad, free-flowing brushstrokes on large canvases.

Danny Fox, the work’s main subject, is an English painter and a friend of the artist. His posture leads us to believe that he is posing in his studio, holding a can and staring out into emptiness. The artist freezes Fox in time and sends us back to our own memories. The painting clearly shows the importance Taylor attaches to his subjects.

This painting, which is in the Pinault Collection, was first exhibited in Rennes during the "Debout !" ("Stand Up!") show at the Couvent des Jacobins in 2018.
