Deller

British, born in 1966

Jeremy Deller's work interacts with the social and cultural history of the United Kingdom. His installations, videos and performances are critical towards the contemporary art community and grants a central place to collective creation. They show a strong political commitment and question the conventional methods of art exhibition.

After studying art history at the Courtauld Institute, Jeremy Deller devoted himself to artistic creation in the 1990s. His desire to cross artistic disciplines and his interest in popular art forms led him to develop a polymorphic work. His singular and militant career Project with a factory brass band (Acid Brass, 1997), reconstruction of the miners' strikes of 1984 (Battle of Orgreave, 2001), collection and exhibition of the constituent elements of British "Pop culture" (Folk Archive) also mark out an original and militant artistic career.

The work of Jeremy Deller, in the example of "English Magic" (2013), was shown for the first time by Pinault Collection during the 2017 Nuit Blanche at the Bourse de Commerce.
