AGHDRA
4K video (sound, colour and black and white)
1 h. 14 min. 59 sec.
Created using AI-based animation, AGHDRA is Arthur Jafa’s first video that contains no images of the real world. We find ourselves in a world without humans—either before or after them.
This 85-minute digital work, structured in 12 sequences, immerses us in the ebb and flow of dark waves, resembling post-apocalyptic debris from the Plasticene era, embodying pure affect. It is a sublime blackness—dense, existential. At once raw and intense, elegiac and fragile. A blackness through which the thwarted promises of possible futures might be unleashed, however obscured the horizon may be.
