Actions: Whaak Plop Plooch Sooosh (No 2)

2013

Screenprint and acrylic on canvas

65 3/16 × 93 1/2 × 1 3/4 in

Created in the style of a Jackson Pollock dripping, the acrylic painting on canvas Actions: Whaak Plop Plooch Sooosh (No. 2) is designed to be read as much as to be heard: the tribute to the action painting movement becomes a punk irreverence to the history of art by mixing gore and cartoon onomatopoeia (also featured in the title of the piece).

The work was first presented by the Pinault Collection in the exhibition « Forever Sixties » at the Couvent des Jacobins in Rennes (2023).
