A long blue line extends on the wall and does not stop even for the structural elements of the room, e.g. a door. Thus, Intervention effectively depicts the interference of the adhesive tape, that breaks within the geometric structure – a black wood square itself characterised by its discontinuity.
In 1968, Edward Krasiński began to systematically use lengths of blue adhesive tape in sculptures, actions and installations in situ. From it, he borrows the abilities to “repair, decorate and identify”, not needing any metaphysical meaning. In his own words, if “this band, of a specific width and undetermined length were a time necessary to show [its] ideas […] by now, it has its own life”.
Intervention, a work by Edward Krasiński, was first presented by the Pinault Collection at the 2016 “Accrochage” ("Hanging") exhibition at the Punta della Dogana.
