Forty paintings tirelessly repeating the same subject, a hyper-realistic glass of water, with the same attention to details. The luminosity differs slightly between the works, the only variation of a series that uses obsessionally the serial potentials of an object as mundane as a drinking glass.

Since 1974, Peter Dreher has been adding daily to the work of his life, the series Tag um Tag guter Tag, whose title comes from Zen Buddhism: “Every Day Is a Good Day”. Every day, he reproduces hyper-realistically the same empty glass, placed on a table, against a white wall. Today, this series is comprised of more than 5,000 paintings, representing each the same glass of water, day and night, according to a unique rule: once the painting has been started, it must be finished on the same day.

The series of paintings Tag um Tag guter Tag (Night Set) by Peter Dreher is part of the Pinault Collection. It was first shown next to one of its matching works, Day Set, at the 2016 “Accrochage” ("Hanging") exhibition at the Punta della Dogana.
