I Am Intact and I Don't Care (Pierre Huyghe, Centre Pompidou)

2013

Black and white video (silent)

9min. 14sec.

Lili Reynaud-Dewar is dancing naked, her body painted in a dark hue, in the empty exhibition rooms of the Centre Pompidou: as this museum space has been privatized for the shooting of this scene, the boundary between the personal and private spheres are blurred. The artist's momentary, precise poses are a nod to Josephine Baker, but they also create a personal, abstract and mutable language.

All the works created by Lili Reynaud-Dewar in 2013 are titled I Am Intact and I Don’t Care. They include performances, films, installations as well as the video (in black and white, duration nine minutes and fourteen seconds) I Am Intact and I Don’t Care (Pierre Huyghe, Centre Pompidou), in which the artist sculpts the space of her own body, transforming the physical experience into an artwork of multiple dimensions.

Lili Reynaud-Dewar's video I Am Intact and I Don’t Care (Pierre Huyghe, Centre Pompidou) is held in the Pinault Collection. It was first presented in the exhibition Dancing With Myself at the Museum Folkwang in Essen (2016).
