Two Citizens

Salman Toor paints stagings of symbolic figures, harlequins, pathetic clowns or puppets slim, dark-skinned heroes including himself. Between comedy and dream, the artist endows these representations littered with references to art history with a contemporary and queer tonality. The same figures recur - slim, dark-skinned heroes - representing various self-portraits of the artist or his partner, represented as actors and migrants living bohemian lives.
