The diptych Untitled is part of the "Apartment" series painted by Elliot Dubail in 2018. Born from photographs he took in the ashes of the collector’s apartment who had acquired one of his first paintings, all the canvases from this series are views of the burnt-out building. 

One can see a complex architecture, while the colours are applied in lively and instinctive gestures, playing with light as if the canvases were lit by candlelight. Both calm and disturbing, and despite the apparent absence of life, these spaces seem to be inhabited by a presence that cannot be described but which questions us. A special atmosphere, an almost supernatural energy emanates from this painting, like an extension of the artist himself.

The work was presented for the first time by Pinault Collection at Palazzo Grassi in 2020, during the exhibition "Untitled, 2020".
