Sensuality and eroticism go hand-in-hand with the emancipation of women in Axell’s work. The Portrait of Yael Dayan, dedicated to the female Israeli writer and politician, defender of the rights of women and homosexuals,  is one of a series of paintings depicting women of different origins: Persian, Polish, Egyptian and Israelian.

The work was first presented by the Pinault Collection in the exhibition « Forever Sixties » at the Couvent des Jacobins in Rennes (2023).
