With swift brushstrokes in brown ink, Pettibon sketches a half-human, half-animal face, emphasising the diagonal formed by the eyes and the strikingly vivid gaze with its rare intensity. A mysterious inscription, typical of a satirist, is written at the bottom of the sheet of paper. Pettibon, an iconic artist of the punk counter-culture, draws inspiration from comics to craft a fragmented portrait of his contemporaries marked by broken dreams, cruelty and transgression.
