Pluie battante, fleurs roses et un papillon en tube qui passe par là

Ghostly shapes dot a landscape torn between intense red and white, stretching out like a puddle of water with many reflections. Some of them take shape in patches of colour. Others are drawn directly on the painting, creating a funny yet disturbing scene.

Hélène Delprat is mainly a painter but writing, making videos and designing sets enrich her imaginative, unsettling world. In the 1990s she created and was the head curator of a “museum of titles”. “I love titles, movie titles, book titles, and I love to change my own,” she says. Driving rain, pink flowers and a butterfly in a tube illustrate this tropism.
